To Our Camp Capers Community,
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding over the last several months. As you are aware, this pandemic has turned everything upside down, including our beloved summer camp sessions at Camp Capers. Previously, we made the decision to cancel all “A” sessions. Now, after much reading, analyzing information, monitoring the ever-evolving situation, thinking, discussing and a whole lot of prayer, we have decided to cancel Intermediate Camp B and Primary Camp B for this summer at Camp Capers. We are still holding Senior High B (July 5-11) and Junior High B (July 12-18) at 50% capacity. We are currently discussing the possibility of additional Senior High and Junior High sessions that would accommodate all those that are currently on the waiting lists for SHB and JHB. We will continue to closely monitor the pandemic. If we determine we cannot operate safely, we will not hesitate in cancelling the remaining camp sessions.
This decision did not come lightly, and honestly, was heartbreaking to make. Based upon the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), American Camp Association (ACA) and YMCA, local health officials, and the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas (DWTX), we believe this is the next best step to offer a safe camping experience this summer. By doing this, we are prioritizing our older campers that will have limited opportunities to attend Camp Capers. Our sincere hope and prayer is that we can share many future summers with our Primary and Intermediate campers in years to come.
We understand how important camp is to ALL children of ALL ages. We are working on ways to have our primary and intermediate campers come and visit camp with their families during a designated time for some daily camp activities later in the summer. More details will be forthcoming soon. If you have a camper enrolled in Intermediate Camp B or Primary Camp B, please let us to know how you would like us to handle your registration by filling out this form.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during this unprecedented time. Our thoughts, hearts, and prayers are with you and your campers during this time, especially those who will not be able to attend camp this summer. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Peace be with you,
Your Camp Capers Staff
