Duncan Park is an Episcopal camp and conference center, owned and operated by the Diocese of West Texas, in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, 20 miles west of Boulder, Colorado. Existing completely off-the-grid with solar panels providing electricity, no cell phone service, and water from its well, this facility captures the rugged beauty of the surrounding mountains and allows for a true respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Although many miles from our diocese, Duncan Park is at the heart of the Camps & Conferences Department's mission to provide spaces for people to gather, creating opportunities for people to deepen their faith, experience the love of God in community, and feel empowered to share this grace with their home parishes and neighbors.
Summer Camp at Duncan Park offers opportunities for people with a variety of ages and experience levels with sessions for high school youth, college students, and adults. Summer Camp sessions include round-trip airfare from San Antonio to Denver, where an Adventure Guide will meet the group and drive them to Duncan Park.
Duncan Park is also open for retreat reservations from churches, families, and other groups to host a retreat where participants can reconnect with each other, with the beauty of God's creation, and with their relationship with Christ.
Contact Hannah Anderson, Duncan Park Director at duncan.park@dwtx.org, for more information about Duncan Park's calendar, retreat options, and facilities.
The Lodge is the main gathering site on campus. In this big red building, the front door opens into a large living room complete with comfortable couches, tables for dining, a ping pong table, and best of all, a fireplace. To the left of this living room is the spacious kitchen, ready to provide nourishing meals. On either end of the lodge are the Bunk Houses, equipped with a half bathroom, which can hold up to ten people (5 twin bunk beds per Bunk House).
Located throughout Duncan Park's main campus are six lovely, platform tents - perfect for your glamping ("glamour camping") experience! Each are equipped with two REI Co-Op Kingdom Cots 3. More bedding can be added, as requested, and additional Duncan Park camping tents are available to set up a "kids' tent" next door to your own.
For a personalized camp experience, bring the family tent or borrow from Duncan Park's supply of camping tents (3-person & 4-person sizes available). Sleep by the creek or under the stars and still enjoy access to all the amenities!
Duncan Park has four Summer Cabins - perfect for individual families. Witt and Calvert Cabins overlook the St. Vrain River as it flows through camp and are equipped with two twin bunk beds and one double bunk bed each. Folts and Duncan Cabins are tucked among the aspen trees and have three twin bunk beds each.
Duncan Park has two new cabins, Lisa and Sally, connected by a shared deck and nestled into the hillside amongst the ponderosa pines. Each cabin is heated, has a private bathroom, and sleeps up to four people with a double bed and a twin bunk bed.
This quaint cottage includes a small kitchen, living/dining area, 2 bedrooms (one with double bed and one with a twin trundle bed for 2), and its own individual bathroom with miniature sink and shower.
Our bathhouse will provide you with the hottest showers of your life! There are two sides, one for men and one for women, and each side has two showers, three toilets, and four sinks.
The chapel is in a clearing facing the South Saint Vrain Creek. It is one of our many spots for prayer and reflection, including a prayer labyrinth created by Trinity by the Sea Episcopal Church (Rockport), St. George's Episcopal Church (Austin), and Church of the Resurrection (Austin) in 2017.
Summer Camp at Duncan Park offers opportunities for people with a variety of ages and experience levels in sessions for junior high and high school youth, college students, and adults. Leadership at Summer Camp is provided by paid and volunteer staff, all of whom complete a rigorous selection process including background checks, reference checks, and face-to-face interviews. All summer staff must attend a thorough training session before camp begins. Chaplains who are clergy or lay leaders from the Diocese of West Texas help guide each session.
Duncan Park seeks to provide opportunities for young people to encounter transforming relationships with Jesus Christ. Every camper and staff member is nurtured and cared for as a valued member of the Body of Christ.

Camp Capers, Mustang Island Family Camp, and Duncan Park are wonderful and life changing places to learn, deepen faith, and experience God's love. We never want financial need to prevent a camper or family from participating in our programming. Each year one-third of all campers rely on partial or full scholarship assistance to attend. The Camps & Conferences Department believes that no child should miss out on a camp experience because of financial limitations, and our staff are continually humbled and grateful for the faithful support of this diocese and our camp community.
The Camp Scholarship Fund is raised through various donors and fundraising efforts. It allows families needing financial assistance an opportunity to experience the Diocese of West Texas camping programs, and is designed to pay approximately 1/3 of the tuition for its recipient. The expectation is that the camper's home church will pay another third, and the family will pay the remaining balance. Exceptions based on hardship will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We encourage all parents to talk with the priest at their church about attending a camp program and explore ways that their congregation might help.

Duncan Park is surrounded by the Roosevelt National Forest, which is home to many different species of animals and plants. Larger mammals living in this region include moose, elk, bears, and mountain lions. All of these animals stay away from human contact as much as possible, and so, are not a threat to our campers or guests. The bears that inhabit this region of the country are Black Bears, which are passive until provoked. On the rare occasion that one of our furry friends walks through camp, we get to observe them from a respectful, safe distance. The Duncan Park orientation teaches everyone how to properly interact with these majestic creatures. To help encourage good behavior from our wildlife neighbors, no food or snacks are allowed in any sleeping quarters. Local wildlife have a keen sense of smell and a curiosity to match.
The Duncan Park cook and other staff prepare nutritious meals, served buffet style. We believe in providing our campers and guests with healthy and nourishing meals. Special dietary requests and food allergies can be accommodated, with at least seven days’ notice, to allow for menu planning and provisioning. NO FOOD OR SNACKS are allowed outside of the kitchen and dining areas (see Wildlife in theMountains section below). Campers or guests may bring special food from home to store in the kitchen on a case by case, DP Director approved, basis. The kitchen is always accessible to adult guests, and campers will often bring a small snack (granola bar, fruit, trail mix, etc.) on hikes.
There is zero cell phone service at Duncan Park; Duncan Park staff have access to back-country communications devices at all times, in case of emergency on site or during an off-site hike. During Family Camp and adult camp, we ask that everyone leave your cell phone in your suitcase while on site and embrace this opportunity to rest from technology.
If a family member, dependent, or others need to contact you from home, incoming calls can be directed to the diocesan offices in San Antonio (888/210-824-5387), Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If it is non-urgent and after hours, use the phone directory by last name to leave a voicemail for Rob Watson, who can address your call during the next business day.
