Cathedral Park and St. John's Chapel
Cathedral Park is a blessed gift that was given to the diocese in 1958 by Flora Cameron Crichton, stepdaughter of the Rt. Rev. Evertt Holland Jones, D.D., Fourth Bishop of West Texas. Open to the public, Cathedral Park is a peaceful and serene space where visitors can experience the beauty of and connect with nature. St. John's Chapel is located on the grounds of the Bishop Jones Center. Throughout the year, a service of Holy Eucharist takes place each week and is also open to the public. Gifts are used to help maintain the beauty of the grounds and assistance with regular maintenance of the property and chapel.
St. Francis Chapel at Camp Capers: St. Francis Chapel’s beautiful stone columns and wooden benches have stood for over 75 years. The open-air chapel is holy ground, a “thin place” where generations of children, youth, families, and adults have gathered to worship and to pray. In 2024, this beloved sanctuary was restored and expanded to equip this treasured place for its next 75 years of ministry. Contact Rob Watson for more information. On August 2, 2024, a rededication of St. Francis was held in honor of the ministry of The Rt. Rev. David M. Reed, 10th Bishop of West Texas, and wife Patti. Click here to read the blog and see photos of the newly restored chapel.
Camps Annual Campaign: Your gift will help provide camp scholarships for children, youth, and families to attend programming at Camp Capers, Mustang Island Conference Center, and Duncan Park. Give to the Camps Annual Campaign as part of Camp Sunday, a day devoted to raising camper scholarship funds, sharing stories of faith formation and personal growth from camp, and inviting families and campers to sign up for camp sessions and retreats.
College & Young Adult Ministries: Your gift will help support the College & Young Adult Ministries department of the Diocese of West Texas. Donations will help fund outreach to college students inside and outside the diocese.
Leave a legacy of love: include diocesan ministries in your estate planning. A planned gift to the Diocese would ensure the ministries you love continue for future generations. Contact Dan Butt, Executive Director of the Episcopal Church Foundation in West Texas for additional information on the diocesan planned giving program.
