The ministry policies established by the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas provide the basic framework for effective and efficient ministry within State and Federal law, as well as Church Canons, and without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or political affiliation. The Diocese has developed policies to provide directions to various ministries, based on the legal framework of the area in which it is relevant. In most cases, they are legally binding. Policies play a crucial role in the performance of those who carry out our ministry, whether they are clergy members, lay staff, or volunteers.
It is the expectation of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas that all policies will be followed to the best ability of each leader and ministry. Exceptions to any policy, or portion of a policy, will only be granted by the Bishop in consultation with the Executive Board. No exceptions will be granted if any laws would be broken by such an exception.
