All are invited to join the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas for the Investiture of the Rt. Rev. Dr. David G. Read on Friday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. during an Evensong service at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, San Antonio and online at dwtx.org/events/investiture2023.

Recognition and Investiture of a Diocesan Bishop

During the Recognition and Investiture of a Diocesan Bishop service, the people of a diocese recognize and receive the new bishop, promising to uphold the new bishop in this ministry. In the Diocese of West Texas, the diocesan crozier will be transferred as well.

Welcome to St. Mark's Episcopal Church

In-person participants will gather at St. Mark's, San Antonio Friday evening. The church will open at 5:30 p.m., please be mindful of the reserved seating for participants in the service.

Clergy are invited to vest with Cassock, Surplice, and Tippet (if available). The vesting room will be located in Gish Hall on the third floor. Please arrive by 6:00 p.m. If you or your spouse have not registered, please click here to email Leigh Saunders, to ensure we have reserved seating for you.

St. Mark's main parking lot is at the corner of E. Pecan and Jefferson, across the street from the church. There is also a smaller lot at the corner of E. Pecan and Navarro. Click here for driving directions.

Handicapped parking spaces are available in both lots. From the Jefferson lot, cross the street and enter the church through the street-level double gates into Tucker Courtyard. Greeters will be there to help with the door and the lift to the Narthex if needed. If you’re coming from the Navarro lot, use the ramp at the E. Pecan entrance to get into the church.

Bishop Read and the Diocesan Staff invite you to join them for a festive reception immediately following the liturgy in Gosnell Hall, down the stairs as you enter the Narthex.

Childcare

Childcare will be available for the Recognition and Investiture Service and will be located on the first floor of St. Mark's Parish House beginning at 5:30 p.m.
