About

The goal of the Commission on Christian Faith in Action (CFA) is based on our baptismal covenant: to strive for justice and peace among all creation through individual and corporate action, advocacy, and interfaith cooperation.‌

The CFA Commission seeks to:‌

  • Facilitate and coordinate individual parishes’ access to outreach resources and expertise
  • Seek, identify, and publicize examples of successful outreach activities being carried out by individuals, groups, and parishes within the diocese
  • Encourage churches to work together in endeavors of mutual interest
  • Identify and recommend outreach activities in need of funding and facilitate funding from grants and gifts
  • Strengthen the connections and relationships among parishes within the department
  • Conduct conferences for educational and advocacy purposes
  • Promote the awareness of all God’s creation as sacred‌

Ministries of Christian Faith in Action

Habitat BUILDERS OF WEST TEXAS

The Habitat Builders of West Texas works with local Habitat for Humanity affiliates in cities throughout the diocese to fulfill the commitment to build at least one house in each town in the diocese with an affiliate.

Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. is the parent organization of a body of ministries addressing the spiritual needs of incarcerated men, women and children, to their families and to those who work in the prison environment. Kairos sprang from the Cursillo movement and is supported by volunteers from Cursillo and those other movements that consider Cursillo as their root. Although a separate ministry, Kairos has received the blessing and encouragement of 4th Day movements such as Cursillo, National Episcopal Cursillo, Presbyterian Cursillo, Lutheran Via de Cristo, The Upper Room's Walk To Emmaus, and independently ecumenical Tres Dias. Kairos Prison Ministry is a ministry rather than a movement.

Recovery Ministries

To encourage and help congregations to have a Recovery Sunday every year, with Commission members being present for them; to offer educational materials on addiction, including a prevention curriculum aimed at youth and their parents; to provide speakers knowledgeable in the field of addiction; to be available to help those suffering from addiction or those in recovery to find the support they need; to reach out to the unchurched within the recovery community, especially through our semi-annual Spiritual Retreat; and to participate actively in Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church.
